Welcome, I’m glad you’re here. There’s so much I want to tell you. First – my next book No Mush Today is released this September 2008. Eary buzz from Booklist is, "True to the young kid's viewpoint, this picture book tells the displaced-sibling story with wry affection. The warm, realistic watercolor double-page spreads show Nonie's anger, jealousy, and feeling of connections with her loving African American family and in the multiracial church community."

In No Mush Today, one determined little girl is tired of having mush for breakfast, tired of trying to make herself heard over the squalling of a new baby brother. Maybe Mom and Dad won’t listen, but Grandma will, and Grandma’s house isn’t far away….
Lucky, lucky me. Lee & Low found Nicole Tadgell whose delightful illustrations bring their own sweetness and humor to the story. I hope you like it.
Then, looking ahead, Kyle's Island (Charlesbridge, publication date 2009)
Kyle’s thirteenth summer threatens to become one big disappointment. He is the only one who believes that going on the family’s traditional lake vacation will help heal the hurt of his dad’s recent decision to leave them. Not only that but financial realities are forcing his mother to contemplate selling the cottage that Kyle loves so much. If this has to be his last summer at the lake, at least he’s going to explore the tree-covered island in the middle of the lake. His father always assured him there was nothing on the island, but Kyle’s not ready to take his word for anything anymore.
But in the meantime, check out the recommendations on my Kids’ Corner page, and please, please email me if you have a favorite of your own to recommend.
Happy reading, everyone!
